Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Intervention (Research Paper Sample) Content: Develop a visual representation of how you have applied the SEM and include the table (INCLUDED) and diagram for the intervention you are proposing. Refer to the Socio-Ecological Model (PDF) in this Week's learning resources as an example of a visual representation.Describe which stakeholders and organizations you will work with to execute your intervention. In order to make this intervention a success various stakeholders and organizations have to be taken into account. These organizations includeCenter for Disease Control (C.D.C): Center for Disease Control has an initiative directed at both reducing the violence associated with the LGBT and ensuring that they can access sexual and reproductive health care without any discrimination. C.D.C have also enrolled a plan that to advocate against valance within the LGBT groups. For example in 2013 it was reported that 16% of homosexuals are exposed to domestic violence by their partners. Therefore for a successful interven tion partnering with CDC will be helpful in attaining reduced violence within the LGBT community both within themselves and from the outside society (Ritter Hoffman, 2010).Department of Justice: According the department of Justice the LGBT does not only face physical violence from the rest of the society but also they are subjected to other forms of violence such as hate speech. As directed in the 2011 Presidential Memorandum on International Initiatives to Advance the Human Rights of LGBT persons. By this bill the United States works to sponsor respect for human rights of gay, bisexual, lesbians and Transgender (LGBT). The law enforcement bodies have been notified to take effect on violations of this bill and therefore making it a worthy partner for this intervention (LGBT health, 2013).Religious organizations: Though most religious organizations have refused to acknowledge LGBT rights, then it is important to make it open to their congregations not to use the bible/ Quran or any other doctrine as a weapon to attack but rather as a means to bring peace. Therefore by using these doctrines to attack a certain people they are violating the sanctity meant for these books. (LGBT health, 2013).Explain how you would apply the principles of community-based participatory research for this interventionOne of the principles of community based participatory research is the use of photovoiceAccording to Wang and Burris (1997) is a type of participatory action that applies storytelling, documentary and photography. Grazioano (2004) used this principles to analyses how black homosexualsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ view themselves in relation to their counterparts of the white race. The themes that surfaced from this study wereBlanchard Trotter (2001), points out that the themes that emerged from this study were that social bias, visiting cultures of traditional healers and isolated social gatherings are crucial factors to be considered later when addressing the LGBT health issue in South Africa. It is important to note that, Grazioano (2004) observed that the study participants were still determined, optimistic and had hope despite the oppression and desolationMacqueen et al. (2001) interviewed 25 African Americans in North Carolina at a place known as Durham, In San Francisco he conducted interviews with 26 gay men, and further examined 25 drug users specifically through injection and resided in Philadelphia, in order to support community participation in HIV vaccine outreaches, and she sampled 42 researchers in United StatesImportant responses to the fundamental question of what a community would refer to, was critically analysed .The commonness in the way the community members were defined were analysed though cluster analysis. A well-known description of what a community is, people with variety characteristics and are brought together by social the shared ties, and have the same perspectives and participate in joint activities in the same geographical area (Mar kadon et al., 2007)The salience describing the different characteristics of the LGBT had an effect and elaborations of how various collaborations developed. For instance the gay in San Francisco shared a strong sense of history and a dominant theme, they also identified themselves through a specific geographical location, the also formed everlasting and unshakeable ties they also valued and established avenues purposely for joint action. They also maintained the diversity among them (Gay and Lesbian Medical Association, 2006).The profile of this kind is exactly the same as the one formulated from the vaccine researchers, although specific characteristics were not thought through more often as compared to one in San Francisco .important variations were noted in relation to how the elements were examined. Almost all of the participants from San Francisco had considered the community and most of them put their efforts to reconcile their necessity for the community with the idea of marg inalization from the society, Contrary to this, scientists thought they were very conversant with multiple communities.Explain the likelihood that your intervention would be successful in contributing to favorable health outcomes for the population you selected.Giving optimal health care to the LGBT patientà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s calls for very welcoming clinics and environmental programs that will eventually promote better communication and allow these individuals to feel free in discussing matters of their sexual orientation, attractions, characters and conflicts that they may be undergoing.According to the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (2012), this is intervention will provide training to health care practitioners and other staff on how to speak with the patient without showing any form of judgements but instead keeping it professional. Meyer Northridge (2007), adds that this training should be reinforced with enforcement of nondiscrimination policies in various clinics. Furthermo re the intake forms that ask the patient to identify their gender and sexual orientation in the health care services should signal acceptance to the LGBT community.Clinicianà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s policies and efforts should run in tandem with those of the public health departments which will make sure that these programs are culturally friendly to these groups. A couple of health centers such as health cents in Chicago, San Francisco, Boston and New York have special staffs that handle the LGBT population and more clinics are set to follow this example for the success of these program (Markdon et al., 2007).Briefly explain how your proposed intervention addresses at least two of the essential public health services. Be specific and provide examplesUp to this end public health has recognized the public health factors affecting LGBT individuals, specific efforts have been done in the cultures of HIV/AIDS hepatitis and other sexually transmitted diseases. Actions to foster prevention messages to the LGBT individuals by the public health specialists, proper health tips in areas such as alcohol use ,avoiding tobacco consumption ,,cancer healthy weight ,and cardiovascular health is not popular.in addition to that important collection of verified data on the risky behaviors and the protection of health issues for LGBT communityAlthough certain cities such as the north Dakota Colorado and Vermont h...
